Ecology Summary - Neopomacentrus australicus
Ecology of Neopomacentrus australicus

Main Ref. Allen, G.R. and M.V. Erdmann, 2024
Remarks This species inhabits rocky substrates with numerous crevices that provide shelter, often associated with corals, sponges, tunicates, and gorgonians at depths of approximately 2-15 m. It commonly forms large aggregations that feed on zooplankton well above the substrate. The habitat is typically located nearshore in sheltered environments such as estuaries, beneath jetties, within narrow channels, or among rocky islets, although these areas may experience periodic strong currents (Ref. 138626).
