Ecology Summary - Thaumatichthys axeli
Ecology of Thaumatichthys axeli

Main Ref. Bertelsen, E. and P.J. Struhsaker, 1977
Remarks Two known specimens caught at depths of 3570m and 3595-3695m. Based on sparse information, larvae of the species are epipelagic and eventually become benthic adults. Jaw mechanism indicates a trap-style feeding type and an omnivorous diet (Ref. 51411).
