Remarks Occurs in inshore waters of the continental shelf (Ref. 75154). Usually in small groups, over sandy bottoms near reefs in about 10-25 m depth (Ref. 90102). Coastal species but prefers deeper reefs. Shoaling species. Feeds on mantis shrimp, crustaceans, and squids at midwater (Ref. 9773).
