| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 7-8; Vertebrae: 26-26. This species is distinct from its congeners by the following characters: D VI + I, 9; A I, 8 (usually); some pectoral-fin rays are branched; cephalic sensory-pore system pattern 2; 2 diffuse to prominent dark spots at the base of pectoral fin; fifth segmented pelvic-fin ray present, usually about 1/10 length of fourth ray; and 6 subcutaneous bars/spots on lower postanal trunk (Ref. 59013). | |||
