Environment:  demersal; freshwater; brackish; marine
Distribution:  Western Indian Ocean: Comoros, Madagascar.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 7-7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-9; Anal spines: 1-1; Anal soft rays: 9-9. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: 14 pectoral rays; a large body depth at anus (26-36% SL) and at first dorsal fin (26-39% SL); and transverse forward series 17-20 (Ref. 126456).
