Max. size:  3.79 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 9-9; Anal soft rays: 21-25; Vertebrae: 33-33. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: flank uniformly colored, without spots, i.e., no humeral and caudal spots, just a tiny and narrow longitudinal stripe; premaxillary teeth in two rows: outer with three to five tricuspid teeth, inner with five tetra- pentacuspid teeth; a narrow silvery/yellowish longitudinal stripe on flank, with slightly blackish upper eye portion in in vivo specimens; pored lateral-line scales 12-15 (mode 15); branched anal-fin rays 21-25 (mode 22); and small bony hooks on the tip of lepidotrichia of the second to fourth branched pelvic-fins rays present, these absent from the anal fin (Ref. 138764).
