Max. size:  6.55 cm SL (male/unsexed)
Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  South America: Brazil.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal spines (total): 14-15; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10-12; Anal spines: 8-8; Anal soft rays: 10-11; Vertebrae: 27-27. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: flank bars 5 to 8 not divided and not united with each other, or if divided, only near the ventral portion; lack of a reticulated pattern; and presence of a standard pattern of oblique and undivided bars (Ref. 138332).
