Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal soft rays: 12-12; Vertebrae: 44-45. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: adipose fin separates from upper principal caudal-fin rays; head length 14.6-15.8% SL; interorbital distance 32.2-33.9% HL; eye diameter 7.0-9.0% HL; body depth at anus 6.6-9.7% SL; length of adipose-fin base 7.5-9.9% SL; 17-19 anal-fin rays; caudal peduncle length 13.7-16.6% SL; and caudal peduncle depth 4.2-5.3% SL (Ref. 138834).
