| Diagnosis: | Dorsal soft rays (total): 2-2; Anal soft rays: 46-57. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: wider gape (posterior margin of rictal lobe extending beyond vertical from posterior margin of orbit); highly contrasting (mottled/reticulated) color pattern on the flanks; dark vertical band at the caudal-fin base; caudal peduncle (8.2-10.4% SL); 48-49 vertebrae; anal-fin rays (46-57); lower jaw with a more gently curved anteroventral margin; and densely distributed dark brown patches on the flanks that coalesce to form a reticulate pattern (Ref. 138537). | |||
| Biology: | This species inhabits streams with clear and fast-flowing water, characterized by rocky and sandy substrate, sometimes with bedrock splitting the stratum and forming small cascades (Ref. 138537). | |||
