Dorsal soft rays (total): 91-95; Anal soft rays: 75-79; Vertebrae: 99-104. This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: anterior portion of frontals fused with no trace of a suture; scapular foramen open; ceratohyal-epihyal articulation interdigitating; cranium narrow; no supratemporal commissure and occipital pores; intercalar reaching the prootic; well developed parasphenoid wing, palatal arch and post-temporal ventral ramus; short posterior hyomandibular ramus; 6 branchiostegal rays; asymmetrical vertebrae; pelvic-fin rays ensheathed; scales, lateral line, pyloric caeca, palatine and vomerine teeth present (Ref. 81216). |
