| Diagnosis: | Dorsal spines (total): 2-2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-7; Anal spines: 2-2; Anal soft rays: 5-5; Vertebrae: 34-36. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: numerous dorsal procurrent caudal-fin rays (22-25); prominent dorsal membranous expansion on the caudal peduncle, forming a distinctive keel absent; anal-fin origin posterior to the dorsal-fin base; caudal fin truncate, posterior margin straight; notch on the posterolateral margin of the premaxilla present; and metapterygoid with a curved posterior tip (Ref. 138852). | |||
