Environment:  benthopelagic; freshwater
Distribution:  Asia: China.
Diagnosis:  Dorsal soft rays (total): 8-8; Anal soft rays: 5-6. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: body naked, scaleless and colourless; eyes either reduced to discernible black dots or entirely blind; anterior nasal flaps not elongated into barbel-like processes; dorsal-fin origin anterior to pelvic-fin insertions; pectoral-fin tips failing to reach pelvic-fin origins; hindmost portions of pelvic fins extending beyond anus but not reaching anal-fin insertion; and distal margin of dorsal fin truncate (Ref. 138663).
