Definition of Term

pseudofin
(English) One of the small fin-like horizontal flaps, folding toward the midline on the side of the caudal peduncle of some juvenile scombrids between about 32-200 mm. The flaps are supported by flexible rays and are later replaced by ridges, e.g. Auxis.
