Definition of Term

gamete
(English) The sperm or unfertilized egg of animals that transmit the parental genetic information to offspring. In plants, functionally equivalent structures are found in pollen and ovules. (See also: gene, allele, sperm)
gamète
(French) Le sperme ou l’oeuf non fertilisé d'animaux qui transmettent l'information génétique parentale à la progéniture. Fonctionnellement les structures équivalents trouvées dans les pollens et les ovules des plantes. (See also: gene, allele, sperm)
gâmeta
(Portuguese) Esperma ou óvulo animal que transmite a informação genética parental à descendência. (See also: gene, allele, sperm)
