Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: loss of pelvic fins and girdle; ten branchiostegal rays; six pectoral-fin rays; dorsal procurrent caudal-fin rays 13 or 14; filament on the extremity of the first pectoral-fin ray absent; anterior segment of the infraorbital latero-sensory canal absent; ventral procurrent caudal-fin rays 10 or 11; vertebrae 37; odontodes 12 opercular, 20-24 interopercular (Ref. 137687).
