| Diagnosis |
Description: moderately slender species; snout pointed; frontal profile straight to slightly concave; caudal fin subtruncate (Ref. 52307); unlike its congeners, C. schoutedeni possesses only 4 openings of the laterosensory system in the lachrymal bone (Ref. 52307). Coloration: males with rows of maculae on soft dorsal, caudal and, usually, anal fins that are absent in females; females may exhibit some black dots on dorsal and caudal fins, and ripe females exhibit a rosy to red belly and an iridescent whitish zone on dorsal fin (Ref. 52307). |
