This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: Lamina circularis on pectoral fin elongated, posterior margin slightly serrated; 14-18 (mode 15) prepelvic myotomes; pelvic fin inserted below 3rd-5th branched dorsal-fin ray; total vertebrae 4+ 36-38 (mode 37); absence of second Gambetta line (L2) or fusion with the first line (L1) (Ref. 133023).
