The genus Grammatonotus surugaensis differs from Callanthias in having 1 spine on the operculum, 13 branched caudal fin rays, and fewer scales in longitudinal series. Several caudal fin rays produced into filaments. Body orange-red; tip of spinous dorsal fin yellow. Attains 8 cm SL. |
