Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: single ridge of skin over the anal fin with incipient anal lappets without scales; filaments on fourth gill arch well developed, its length 82.4% filament on first arch; cavernous tissue present around anus and extending to base of third anal-fin ray; vertebrae 36 + 18 = 54; GRI 2 + 1 + 8; medial GRI 4; medial GRII 1; dorsal-fin rays 15; anal-fin rays 15; lateral-line pores 17; lateral-line scales 16; and copular tooth plate rather broad, greatest width 2.1 in length (Ref. 138879).
