This species is differentiated from its congeners in having the following characters: a dark golden to dark metallic green longitudinal band on the ventral half of body sides from the head to median caudal fin rays; lateral line scales 30-31; anal fin rays 20-23; maxillary teeth 3-7; dentary teeth 13-16 (Ref. 72430).

Description: Dorsal fin rays ii,8,i; anal fin rays 20-23 (iii-iv, 17-20); pectoral fin rays i,9-10 pelvic fin rays i,6. Color in life: a longitudinal band on the vertical part of body sides, changing from dark golden to dark metallic green , continuous to a longitudinally elongate caudal spot, faintly reaching over the median caudal fin rays; this band is dorsally edged by a bright orange stripe from humeral region to caudal fin base; nostrils red, upper 3/4 of iris intense red, golden below; fins pale yellow, with 2 bright yellow spots on the base of each caudal fin lobe (Ref. 72430).
