Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D 8; A 7; nasal barbels reaching anterior border of eye; dorsal-fin origin positioned posterior to vertical line drawn from pelvic-fin origin; broken bars along lateral surface of body; and divergence of 11.2 to 18.6% (uncorrected P-distance) in the mitochondrial cyt b gene sequences (Ref 138056).
