Diagnosis

This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: total dorsal-fin rays 32-33, none of spinous elements elongated; total anal-fin rays 21-24; segmented caudal rays 13; lateral-line tubes usually 0-1 (except 2 on one side of holotype), lower lip flap relatively weak and not separated into anterior and posterior parts; large black spot covering dorsal surface of snout and conspicuous white stripe on interorbital; large white spots absent on preopercle, pectoral-fin base, and upper abdominal area; and size small, maximum about 25-30 mm SL (Ref. 138626)
