| Diagnosis |
This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: dorsal rays XIII,10-11 (usually 11); anal rays II,11-12 (usually 11); pectoral rays usually 16-18 (rarely 16); tubed lateral-line scales 15-18 (usually16-17); total gill rakers on first arch 19-23 (usually 21-22); body depth 2.2-2.5 in SL; ventral margin of suborbital exposed (i.e. not hidden by scales); dorsal, anal and caudal fin filaments well developed, dorsal filament to 47% SL and caudal concavity to 28% SL; colour in life grey brown, grading to bluish grey except yellow caudal fin and posterior most parts of dorsal and anal fins, also yellow hue adjacent to upper edge of eye; and small dark spot at upper pectoral-fin base, but not invading axil of fin (Ref. 138626). |
