This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: body depth 32.0 TL; dorsal-fin origin slightly posterior to pectoral-fin tip; head length 11.1 in TL; teeth conical, sharp, all recurved, maxillary teeth biserial, teeth of inner row larger than teeth of outer row; vomerine teeth uniserial, three anterior teeth stout, enlarged; pectoral fins lanceolate; body mainly uniform pale olivaceous, ventral part of trunk with white triangular area, posterior margin of dorsal and anal fins narrowly black; and total vertebrae 152, including 13 predorsal and 61 preanal vertebrae (Ref. 138908). |
