This species is distinguished from all its congeners except R. szechuanensis by the following set of characters:no sensory canals and sensory pores on head; cheeks and operculum, no spots or stripes; it differs from R. szechuanensis with the second dorsal fin with 9-11, longitudinal rows of inverted V-shaped or dash-like brown markings (vs. with blue spots, some coalescing into vertical bars), incomplete brownish edges on flank scales below second dorsal fin (vs. complete edges), and a bright-yellow branchiostegal membrane (vs. white or blue) (Ref. 138923). |
