This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following characters: teeth with 3/3 multicusp pattern (vs. 3/3-4 in R. lopheliae ; 3/2 in R. rubicundus); prebranchial pores 15 (vs. 26 in R. eos, 19-21 in R. lopheliae); trunk pores 50 (vs. 75-77 in R. eos, 62 in R. rubicundus); tail pores 19 (vs. 26 in R. eos), total pores 80 (vs. 128-130 in R. eos, 100-102 in R. rubicundus) and by having two bilaterally symmetrical nasal-sinus papillae (vs. no nasal-sinus papillae in R. eos and R. lophelia) (Ref. 123790). Description: gill pouches 5 pairs; three-cusp multicusps in anterior and posterior rows; 6 unicusps in each anterior and posterior rows; total cusps 36. palatine tooth triangular. Colouration: body pinkish-orange (Ref. 55621). |
