This species can be distinguished from Salmo kottelati by the combination of the following characters: four dark bands on the flank in males and females very faintly marked or indistinct in small specimens but distinct in specimens larger than about 23.0 cm SL (vs. absence); parr marks vertically elongate (vs. vertically oblong); black spots irregularly shaped (vs. circular); black spots on dorsal fin smaller than half pupil (vs. slightly smaller than pupil); head length 26-27% SL in males, 25-26% SL in females (vs. 29-33% SL in males, 26-32 in females); length of maxilla in males 9-10% SL (vs. 10-13% SL); and head depth at nape 16-17% SL (vs. 18-20% SL,) (Ref. 99540). |
