Diagnosis

It is a moderately large species of the genus with 11-12 rays on the dorsal fin, 13-15 rays on the pectoral fin, 49-52 lateral-line scales, transverse scale rows above lateral line 3½, below lateral line 5½, pectoral fins are moderately long, extending past a line connecting the origins of the pelvic and dorsal fins. The outer palatines have 2 rows of teeth, the vomer 0-2 teeth, toungue has about 3-4 rows of teeth posteriorly, a rounded peduncle with a depth equal to its width, a black or dusky color on the anterior part of the stomach, posterior extension pale whitish, intestine black; leading edge of upper lobe of caudal fin with 3-6 black spots.
