Body without dark stripes. Cavity with deep post-oral skinfold around mouth. A submarginal band on posterior part of paired fins. Origin of pectoral fin behind corner of the mouth. Origin of pelvic in front of dorsal-fin origin; pelvic fin reaching anal-fin origin; dorsal keels on pelvic-fin rays continuously or marginally serrated. Absence of skin-fold between oropectoral membrane and ventral surface of head. Lateral line with 40-47 scales (Ref. 40433).
Description: dorsal fin with 3 simple and 8 branched rays, last one split to base; anal fin with 2 simple and 4 branched rays, second simple ray flat with fine lateral serration, posteriormost part of this ray soft and articulated; pectoral fin with 1 simple and 23-24 branched rays, last rays covering anterior part of pelvic, reaching vertical of base of branched pelvic-fin rays 5-8; pelvic fin with 1, rarely 2, simple and 19-21 branched rays, mostly reaching anal-fin origin (Ref. 40433). |
