This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: D 8-9; A 34-36; 91-94 total vertebrae; 10-12 peritoneal pigment sections; 6 saddle-like patches on dorsum anterior to DFO; second dorsal saddle-like patch between dorsal and dorsal adipose fins located far posterior to vertical line through AFO; head depth 4.6-5.0% SL; snout length 10.0-11.3% SL; upper-jaw length 8.3-10.5% SL; lower-jaw length 11.2-13.9% SL; DFO located slightly posterior to mid-point of V-A, predorsal length 71.1-73.0% SL, D-A 6.8-8.5% SL, V-D 55.0-59.5% V-A; well-developed gill rakers on epibranchial, ceratobranchial and hypobranchial of first and second gill arches (only weakly developed in 78.7-107.7 mm-SL juveniles) (Ref. 138393). |
