This species is distinguished by the following set of characters: posterior chamber of swim bladder developed, ovoid, directly connects to the anterior chamber; intestine short, zigzag-shaped with two loops; lower jaw spoon-like, blunt and covered by lips; complete lateral line; snout length shorter than postorbital length, snout length 70.0-93.0% (mean 81.6%) of postorbital length; dorsal fin origin anterior to the ventral fin origin, predorsal length 91.7-98.3% (95.2%) of preventral length; ventral fins at the same vertical with the second branched dorsal fin ray, and tips of ventral fins reaching to anus or close anal fin origin; caudal peduncle depth almost uniform toward to caudal origin, caudal peduncle depth 30.5-49.1% (37.3%) of its length; vertebrae 4 + 36-38 (n = 6); gill rakers 10-11 (n = 4). |
