This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: eyes normal, eye diameter 9.1-17.3% of head length (HL); interorbital width 29.3-37.5% of HL; anterior and posterior nostrils closely set, anterior nostril elongated into a barbel-like tip; outer rostral barbel extending posteriorly to the anterior margin of the eye; body naked and scaleless, with skin pigmentation; lateral line complete; dorsal fin distal margin truncated; pectoral fin tip not reaching the origin of the pelvic fin; pelvic fin tip not reaching the anus; dorsal fin rays ii, 7; pectoral fin rays ii, 7-9; pelvic fin rays ii, 5; anal fin rays i, 5; 16 branched caudal fin rays; and total vertebrae 4 + 36 (Ref. 138727). |
