Dorsal spines (total): 7; Dorsal soft rays (total): 10 - 11; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 9 - 10. Distinguished by the following characteristics: small; lack scales; possess VII spines in the first dorsal; no head or opercle pores; ventral fins completely separate (Ref. 92840).
Found on shallow bottoms of coral reefs, usually less than 5 m (Ref. 13628).
