Taxonomic Remarks
According to Uiblein et al. (2024; Ref. 130857) this species is not valid at the species level, but retained at subspecies level. This reference also announces a revision of the genus Mullus and thus, the species level status of Mullus ponticus in FishBase will be reviewed when the revision is published.
