Dorsal spines (total): 22 - 25; Dorsal soft rays (total): 23 - 27; Anal spines: 3; Anal soft rays: 17 - 21; Vertebrae: 42 - 46. Dark olive green dorsally, becoming pale on sides, and silvery ventrally. Back and sides striped longitudinally with green lines and small blue dots.

Found in large low tidal pools and surge channels (Ref. 9003). Feeds on zooplankton in the water column (Ref. 120445). May be found living within soft bodied invertebrates (e.g. salps) (Ref. 9003). Juveniles probably pelagic (Ref. 48372).
