Etymology: Coryphaenoides: Greek, koryphaina = dolphin fish + Suffix oides = similar to (Ref. 45335); soyoae: Named for Soyo-maru, a fisheries research vessel of the National Research Institute of Fisheries Science, on which the type specimens were collected.
Eponymy: The ‘Soyo-maru’, from which the holotype was collected, is a research vessel of the National Research Institute of Fisheries Science, Japan. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
