Etymology: Pseudolarimichthys: From the Latin 'pseudo' meaning false, and similar to the species of Larimichthys of the originally described species (Ref. 128487); terengganui: 'terrenganu', i.e., named after the locality of the new species in Terrenganu, east coast of Peninsular Malaysia (Ref. 101632).
