Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7 - 9; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 19 - 21; Vertebrae: 29 - 30. This species, a member of the Oryzias woworae species group, is distinguished by the following: live males with a bluish sheen on the body; differs from other species of the Oryzias woworae species group by the following characters: transverse scales 8; head length 26.6%-27.7% of SL in males, 28.0%-28.9% SL in females; body depth at anal-fin origin 24.3%-28.2% SL in males, 23.5%-24.0% SL in females; rare or no pigmentation along the ventral and dorsal margins of caudal fin of males after preservation (Ref. 133091).

Occurs in headstream waters, including cascade waterfalls, to lower reaches, including small
streams approximately 1-2 m deep with low flow and sandy and gravel substrates (Ref. 133091).
