Identification keys | Morphology | Morphometrics
This species differs Economidichthys pygmaeus by the first dorsal fin in male having a large black blotch on the membrane between ray 5 and 6 and behind ray 6 (vs. absent or very poorly developed); the perianal organ is not flanking the urogenital papilla (vs. flanking anterior part); its length 18–33 % of the distance between genital papilla and pelvic-disc origin (vs. 37-45 %), and the back scaleless along the base of posteriormost rays of the second dorsal fin (vs. scaleless until about middle of second dorsal fin); differs from E. trichonis by the absence of distinct black bars on the flank in the nuptial male (vs. present), and the flank covered by several rows of overlapping scales (vs. one row of non-overlapping scales) (Ref. 138563).
Body shape (shape guide): elongated; Cross section: oval.
