Dorsal soft rays (total): 5 - 6; Anal soft rays: 4 - 5. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: posterior extremity of adipose fin base distinctly angular with sharply pointed dorsoposterior margin; tip of maxillary barbel extending beyond the origin of pectoral-fin base; nasal barbel not reaching anterior margin of orbit; both parallel and rounded striae on the anterolateral surfaces of the lips present; snout (53.7?60.9% HL); predorsal length (41.5–-4.9% SL); pelvic fin length (15.9?16.7% SL); preanal length (75.8?78.1% SL); outer mandibular barbel (15.1–-0.4% HL); adipose fin base length (23.1?26.7% SL); dorsal-adipose distance (10.2?17.1% SL); and caudal peduncle (15.4?19.6% SL) (Ref. 138833).
