Dorsal soft rays (total): 13 - 23; Anal soft rays: 19 - 24; Vertebrae: 27 - 28. This species is distinguished from its congeners by the following set of characters: polymorphic males with 1-3 black spots distributed on anterocentral portion of flank and caudal peduncle; pelvic fin rays in adult males 6; scales on longitudinal series 27-28; scales on peduncle series 10-13; infraorbital neuromasts 15-16; head depth in males 52.1-88.4; position of dark grey bar in eye vertical; lateral mandibular neuromasts 10; and vertebrae 27-28 (Ref. 138871).
