It apparently occupy anarrow strip of habitat at the lower intertidal and start of the sub-tidal over sand and mud with broken shell and sometimes in association with sparse marine eel grass Zostera and the algae Hormosira, but appears not to occupy fringing ribbon weed Posidonia in clean sands of deeper water.
