The stream has a substantial slope, rocky bottom, clear and swift running waters, surrounded by a dense fragment of Atlantic Forest. A single specimen was collected with a handle net from a small shallow pool among rocks by stirring the submerged roots of plants in the left margin. Associated species caught in the Córrego Grande stream along with this species were Ancistrus multispinis, Cambeva barbosae, Hollandichthys multifasciatus, Phalloceros maldonadoi, and a Rhamdia sp.
