Etymology: Pseudechidna: Greek, pseudes = false + Greek, echidna = viper (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Lieutenant Colonel Dr O Brummer was a military surgeon in the Royal Dutch East Indies Army and collected in Timor while stationed in Java. He collected the eel holotype. Bleeker (q.v.) was also an army surgeon in the East Indies (from 1842). (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
