Adults inhabit soft bottoms around coral or rock outcrops. Also found in lagoons, harbors, and coastal reefs. They occur in large schools on the north coast of Bali and usually in depths of 10-15 m on large Montipora coral colonies (Ref. 48636). Oviparous, distinct pairing during breeding (Ref. 205). Eggs are demersal and adhere to the substrate (Ref. 205). Males guard and aerate the eggs (Ref. 205).
