背棘 (总数) : 3; 背的软条 (总数) : 8 - 9; 臀棘: 3; 臀鳍软条: 5 - 6. Anterior barbel short, about quarter eye diameter; posterior barbel also short, about half eye diameter (Ref. 13337). Well-defined spots on flanks (Ref. 122753).

Inhabits shallow calm waters amongst vegetation, along the river edge (Ref. 13337). Ripe adults were caught undertaking upstream migration on a possible spawning run in mid summer after the first rise in water level (Ref. 13337).
