Épines dorsales (Total) : 12 - 13; Rayons mous dorsaux (Total) : 17 - 18; Épines anales: 2; Rayons mous anaux: 20 - 21. Pale with dusky margins on head and body; body sometimes with dusky bands; dark spot between 1st 2 dorsal spines (Ref. 4404).
Body shape (shape guide): fusiform / normal.
Found in tidepools and rocky surge areas (Ref. 90102). Oviparous. Eggs are demersal and adhesive (Ref. 205), and are attached to the substrate via a filamentous, adhesive pad or pedestal (Ref. 94114). Larvae are planktonic, often found in shallow, coastal waters (Ref. 94114).
