Occurs in mountain rapids (Ref. 41236). Gut content of three specimens suggested that the fish feeds on benthic macroinvertebrates such as freshwater prawns, maxillopod crustacean (Branchiura), and Odonata nymph. Collected gravid females suggests that this species probably breeds during June to August (which is the monsoon season) and according to the local fishermen, found only during Jthese months in the Markal area. Important threats to this species include alteration of hydrological regimes because of damming, increasing pollution, deforestation leading to siltation, and introduced fish species (Ref. 87891),
