Etymology: Apolemichthys: Greek, apolemos, -os,-on = quiet, peaceful + Greek, ichthys = fish (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Colonel A E Armitage of the Seychelles, who, according to Smith’s etymology, “…was deeply interested in the fishes of that area”. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.

Taxonomic Remarks
This species is an hybrid of Apolemichthys trimaculatus X Apolemichthys xanthurus according to Heemstra & Heemstra (2004: Ref. 58304). The species page will be removed for the next update.

Western Indian Ocean: Seychelles and Maldives. Randall and Anderson (Ref. 11303) note that this species might be a hybrid of Apolemichthys trimaculatus and Apolemichthys xanthurus but that more specimens are needed for confirmation.
