Etymology: Clupeonella: Latin, clupea = sardine, derived from Clupeus = shield; diminutive (Ref. 45335).
Eponymy: Professor Dr Rashad Muhlis Erkmen (1891–1985) was a Turkish Agricultural School Professor and politician (MP), who became the Minister of Agriculture of Turkey when the sprat (endemic to Apolyont Lake in Turkey) was discovered. (Ref. 128868), visit book page.
